Thanks, Sven.

I'd love to see the Windies return to something approaching their 70s and 80s level. Preferably not in this series, though.

Re: 1st ODI: West Indies v England at North Sound, Antigua
Doesn't look likely any time soon
They haven't qualified for the ODI Champions Trophy in June which is pretty sad seeing they won the first two World Cups.
Still have some work to do to qualify for the 2019 World Cup.

Usual story here with some of their bigger names like Gayle missing due to the same old 'disputes with the board'.

Re: 1st ODI: West Indies v England at North Sound, Antigua
It is sad and a genuine loss to the international game.

What is it about the constant disputes between board and players. It can't just keep happening without something being seriously wrong in the system. And why haven't former Windies greats got more involved in sorting those problems out and trying to resurrect cricket in the Caribbean?

Re: 1st ODI: West Indies v England at North Sound, Antigua
A lot comes down to money I think. And with the money the players make elsewhere in t20 they seem not that bothered.
You could say some is down to the rivalry between islands but that has always been the case.
It is a shame as cricket needs them

I think Shai Hope looks excellent, but other than that their batting line up is terrible really.

I'm sure Stokes and co can get them some confidence though with their shite bowling!!

Sold

It was Carlos Brathwaite that hit Stokes for 4 sixes in the last over of the T20 final last year.

Don't even count Gayle anymore for them.

Marlon Samuels is probably the biggest name not playing.

Currently in the Pakistan T20 comp.

Start of England's build up to the Champions Trophy in June.
After 11 World Cups and 7 Champions Trophies it's probably time England won one
Especially as it will be the 7th time they have been given home advantage

* polishes 5 World Cups and 2 Champions Trophies 🏆 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆*

After that let off, from that shitty nothing shot, this Irish twat needs to actually get a score.

Or fuck off and do us a favour.

Re: 1st ODI: West Indies v England at North Sound, Antigua
As long as we have a paddy with a Welsh surname as captain then I don't give a stuff how England do. Anyway, how can England players respect a captain who bottled out of a tour and left them to it. I think it's disgraceful that he was selected again.

Like most cricket fans I'd love to see the Windies return to some kind of prominence in the game, but I won't be holding my breath. The main problem is that the kids are no longer playing much cricket there. They mostly play basketball now.

It's also such a shame that they left the recreation ground. I know it was rickety, but at least it had some atmosphere. Whereas The Rec was in St. Johns, this new place is out in the middle of nowhere and has zero atmos.

Re: 1st ODI: West Indies v England at North Sound, Antigua
Lovely bloke Morgan, but without looking I imagine even most of these west Indian batsman who everyone thinks are shit, have better or similar averages.

Bowling still more of an issue generally. Obsession with a long tail means the bowlers are average.
